Gevrey-Chambertin Clos Prieur Bas 2020 Vintage Overview

2020 OVERVIEW

Domaine Joseph Roty’s 2020 Gevrey-Chambertin Clos Prieur Bas shows ripe raspberry and dark cherry layered with subtle spice, floral hints and polished oak, giving a smooth, satin-like texture. Medium to full in body, it feels supple yet structured, driven by fresh acidity and fine, mineral-tinged tannins that tighten on the finish, promising added complexity with cellaring.

About Gevrey-Chambertin Clos Prieur Bas

Domaine Joseph Roty’s Gevrey‑Chambertin “Clos Prieur Bas” is a village‑level Pinot Noir from the lower (Bas) section of the historic Clos Prieur plot just south of the premier‑cru parcels; planted on deep clay with Bajocian limestone, the site yields darker, concentrated fruit with firm, finely grained tannins and a chalky mineral spine. Roty’s rendition is typically more powerful and structured than their other village cuvées—dark cherry and raspberry framed by spice, floral lift and a saline‑stony finish—designed for medium‑to‑long aging.
