Charmes Chambertin Grand Cru 2021 Vintage Overview

2021 OVERVIEW

Intensity leads the way here: Domaine Dujac’s 2021 Charmes-Chambertin Grand Cru is brooding and deep, with dark raspberry, plum and strawberry fruit wrapped in spice, orange rind and gentle florals, all carried on a firm, chalky spine. The whole-bunch character adds lift and crunch, giving a vivid, mouthwatering edge to what is otherwise a muscular, tightly coiled expression of this usually more charming site. This is serious, structured Charmes that asks for patience but promises a long, perfumed, resonant finish when it finally opens up.

About Charmes Chambertin Grand Cru

Domaine Dujac’s Charmes-Chambertin Grand Cru is a sensual, gently structured Gevrey wine that marries the vineyard’s natural charm—supple, ripe red and dark berry fruit, floral lift and silky tannins—with the domaine’s hallmark whole-cluster finesse. Drawn from about 0.7 hectares split between Aux Charmes and Mazoyères, on stony limestone soils, it tends to show opulent aromatics and early appeal yet has the depth and energy to age gracefully for decades.
