Silky and poised, the 2017 Domaine des Comtes Lafon Volnay Santenots-du-Milieu Premier Cru layers red and dark cherry with plum, rose petal and subtle spice, framed by fine-grained, chalky tannins. Medium to full in body yet graceful, it shows a fresh line of acidity and a long, sapid finish that already appeals but clearly promises greater nuance with time in bottle.
