Grands-Echezeaux Grand Cru•2021

Gentle at first and then increasingly authoritative, Domaine d’Eugenie’s 2021 Grands-Echezeaux Grand Cru layers dark cherry and blackcurrant fruit with black tea, florals and subtle spice, all carried on a finely etched, chalky-mineral frame. The use of whole clusters brings lift and aromatic complexity without sacrificing depth, and the finish is long, vibrant and mouthwatering, suggesting a particularly successful, classical expression of this cooler, low-yielding vintage.
