Chateauneuf-du-Pape 2019 Vintage Overview

2019 OVERVIEW

Intensity comes first here: Clos des Papes Châteauneuf-du-Pape 2019 saturates the senses with ripe kirsch and dark cherry layered with plum, sweet spice, dried herbs and a stony, almost ferrous edge. Despite its considerable richness and high alcohol, the wine stays poised and luminous, with ultra-fine tannins, superb depth and a finish that seems to carry on endlessly. This is a powerful yet classical Clos des Papes, shaped for long aging rather than early flamboyance.

About Chateauneuf-du-Pape

Clos des Papes Châteauneuf‑du‑Pape is the domaine’s single, terroir-driven cuvée—a Grenache-led, multi‑varietal blend (roughly ~65% Grenache with Mourvèdre, Syrah and small amounts of other permitted grapes) that is organically farmed, vinified parcel‑by‑parcel with native yeasts and matured mainly in large foudres. The style marries ripe red-fruit generosity and Provençal garrigue with firm structure and saline/mineral grip, producing an elegant, age-worthy expression of Châteauneuf that is prized for purity, balance and long cellaring potenti…
