Chateaneuf-du-Pape Reserve 2005 Vintage Overview

2005 OVERVIEW

Seductive and intense, the 2005 Château Rayas Châteauneuf-du-Pape Réserve overflows with sweet red and black cherry, raspberry liqueur, wild herbs and hints of smoke, tea leaf and exotic spice. The palate is dense yet weightless, a silken wash of pure Grenache fruit framed by ultra-fine tannins and vivid acidity, leading to a hauntingly long, spicy, almost perfumed finish. This is a benchmark, long-lived Rayas that combines the vintage’s power with the domaine’s trademark finesse and lift.

About Chateaneuf-du-Pape Reserve

Château Rayas Châteauneuf-du-Pape Réserve is one of the Rhône’s most singular reds, a 100% Grenache wine from very old vines on unusually cool, sandy, north-facing parcels that give it striking finesse and perfume rather than sheer power. Typically showing a “Burgundian” elegance with intensely pure red-fruit, floral and garrigue-driven aromatics, it marries depth and longevity with a remarkably silky, almost weightless texture. Produced in tiny quantities and harvested late for perfect ripeness, it is widely regarded as a benchmark, even cult,…
