Chateau Pichon-Longueville Baron 2005 Vintage Overview

2005 OVERVIEW

Dark, brooding fruit wrapped in powerful yet polished structure makes this 2005 Château Pichon-Longueville Baron feel both imposing and seductive at once. Blackcurrant and blackberry liqueur saturate the palate, streaked with graphite, charcoal and a savoury, tarry edge, all carried by fresh acidity and long, firm, beautifully woven tannins that promise decades of evolution. This is a classic, monumental Pauillac from a great vintage, still youthful and full of energy.

About Chateau Pichon-Longueville Baron

Château Pichon-Longueville Baron is the grand vin of this historic Pauillac Second Growth, a Cabernet Sauvignon–led red Bordeaux sourced from the estate’s oldest vines on deep gravel soils opposite Château Latour. Known for its powerful yet refined “super second” style, it typically delivers dense black fruit, cassis, cedar and graphite with firm, velvety tannins and remarkable aging capacity that allows top vintages to evolve gracefully for several decades.
