Les Forts de Latour 2016 Vintage Overview

2016 OVERVIEW

Blackcurrant and violet leap from the glass, followed by a deep, refined Pauillac structure that feels both powerful and composed. Chateau Latour Les Forts de Latour 2016 layers dark, cool fruit with hints of earth and dried flowers, wrapped in ultra-fine, powdery tannins that stretch into a long, poised finish. It’s a superbly classical, tightly focused second wine that clearly shows the pedigree of the grand vin in a slightly more approachable frame.

Typically a Cabernet Sauvignon–dominant blend with a higher proportion of Merlot than the Grand Vin and aged in about 50–60% new oak, it mirrors Latour’s meticulous viticulture and winemaking while offering a slightly more approachable, yet still powerful and ageworthy, expression of the estate’s gravelly, Gironde-influenced terroir.
