Chateau Branaire-Ducru 2022 Vintage Overview

2022 OVERVIEW

Initially reserved then quickly expressive, the 2022 Chateau Branaire-Ducru fans out with pure blackcurrant and black cherry fruit, floral lift and a subtle dark-chocolate richness wrapped in very fine, tightly woven tannins. This is a more powerful, densely structured Branaire than usual, yet it stays poised and refreshing, its long finish etched with cool mineral tones and a sense of precision that reflects the estate’s new, more exacting winemaking. A superbly classy, ageworthy Saint-Julien that still promises real drinking pleasure in time.

About Chateau Branaire-Ducru

Château Branaire-Ducru is the grand vin of this historic 4ème Grand Cru Classé estate in Saint-Julien, crafted predominantly from Cabernet Sauvignon grown on warm, deep Quaternary gravel that yields particularly pure, ripe fruit. Known for its combination of finesse, freshness, and vibrant black-fruit character rather than sheer power, it typically shows fine tannins, floral and spicy nuances from Cabernet Franc and Petit Verdot, and a refined structure that allows it to age gracefully over decades.
