Gevrey Chambertin Clos St Jacques 2021 Vintage Overview

2021 OVERVIEW

Bright red currant and wild strawberry drive Bruno Clair’s 2021 Gevrey-Chambertin Clos St Jacques, framed by lifted floral notes and a subtle whole-cluster spice. The palate is taut and finely etched, with vibrant acidity and firm but refined tannins giving a stony, linear profile that promises much greater depth with time. This is a beautifully pure, focused expression of the vineyard in a cooler, classical vintage, more about finesse and tension than immediate opulence.

About Gevrey Chambertin Clos St Jacques

Bruno Clair’s Gevrey-Chambertin Clos St Jacques is a poised, deeply detailed Pinot Noir from one of Gevrey’s most revered premier cru vineyards, often spoken of as grand cru in all but name. From a 1-hectare, high-slope parcel on red clay-limestone with old vines, it marries pure, layered red fruit and floral notes with pronounced limestone minerality, freshness, and finely etched structure. Long maceration and extended barrel aging give a wine that is both ethereal and powerful, built to unfold gracefully over decades.
