Corton Charlemagne Grand Cru 2022 Vintage Overview

2022 OVERVIEW

Ripe stone fruit glows at the core of Bonneau du Martray’s 2022 Corton-Charlemagne Grand Cru, cushioned by a silky, almost creamy texture yet carried by a vivid mineral backbone. Layers of pear, apricot and gentle baking spice roll into notes of warm pastry and chalk, giving a feeling of generosity shaped by precise, lively acidity. This warm-vintage Charlemagne feels unusually open and welcoming young, but still has the depth and structure to reward patience.

About Corton Charlemagne Grand Cru

Corton-Charlemagne Grand Cru by Bonneau du Martray is a pure Chardonnay from 9.5 hectares of contiguous, west-facing parcels on the Corton hill, where silt-and-sand topsoils over white marl and a mosaic of limestone create a powerful yet crystalline, intensely mineral style. Farmed organically and biodynamically and vinified in a mix of new and used French oak with extended lees aging, it is renowned for its tension, depth, and remarkable longevity, often needing many years in bottle to fully reveal its complexity.
