Bass Phillip is a small but influential Pinot Noir specialist based near Leongatha in South Gippsland, Victoria, founded in 1979 by Phillip Jones. Named after explorers George Bass and Arthur Phillip, the estate was planted originally to Cabernet Sauvignon before Jones, inspired by great Burgundies, replanted to Pinot Noir and Chardonnay in the mid-1980s.
