Ornellaia

Ornellaia is one of Italy’s most acclaimed “Super Tuscan” estates, founded in 1981 by Marchese Lodovico Antinori on the Tuscan coast near Bolgheri. Planted from the outset with Bordeaux varieties rather than Sangiovese, the estate released its first vintage in 1985 and quickly rose to rival top Bordeaux châteaux in critical acclaim and auction prices. Ownership passed first to Robert Mondavi and ultimately, in 2005, to the historic Frescobaldi family, who have further expanded Ornellaia’s international profile.
