Moric is the personal project of Burgenland winemaker Roland Velich, founded in 2001 after he left his family’s Velich estate to pursue a singular vision for Austria’s Blaufränkisch grape. Working primarily with old vines in Mittelburgenland and the Leitha Hills, especially around Lutzmannsburg and Neckenmarkt, Velich set out to show that Blaufränkisch could achieve the finesse, aromatic depth and age‑worthiness associated with top Burgundy, while remaining firmly rooted in its Pannonian origins.
