Le Macchiole is a pioneering estate in Bolgheri on the Tuscan coast, founded in 1983 by Eugenio Campolmi and his wife Cinzia Merli. Starting with just 4 hectares along the Via Bolgherese, they helped put Bolgheri on the map by challenging local conventions: high-density plantings, a focus on carefully matched international varieties, and an early move to organic farming (later integrating biodynamic practices).
