Cheval des Andes is a Franco‑Argentine project in Mendoza created in 1999 as a joint venture between Bordeaux’s Château Cheval Blanc and Terrazas de Los Andes. Conceived by Pierre Lurton as a “journey to the roots of Bordeaux,” it focuses on old‑vine Malbec planted on original rootstock in 1929 in Las Compuertas and in 1945 in La Consulta/Paraje Altamira, at elevations around 1,070–1,150 meters in the foothills of the Andes.
