Biondi-Santi is the historic cradle of Brunello di Montalcino, the estate where this now-iconic Tuscan red was effectively created. In the mid‑19th century, pharmacist and agronomist Clemente Santi began isolating a superior strain of Sangiovese, later known as Sangiovese Grosso, on the family’s Greppo estate near Montalcino.
